I finally organized our fridge and freezer today and to my surprise my food waste is exactly the same as last week- just a couple of yucky strawberries! For some reason, the kiddos don't want to eat strawberries right now :( I have some more wilted but still edible, I'll add them to a smoothie (yes, with kale :) tonight! I finally tackled all the kale in a fridge- I used it in more smoothies, in lasagna and froze some. I still want to try making chips some time this week. Just didn't find time last week.
And this week we are eating:
Mon.- potatoes, chicken, salad
Tues.- eating at IKEA (kids eat free on Tuesday and we need to buy a few things)
Wed.- cheese quesadillas
Thurs.- zucchini pasta
Fr.- fritatta, some sort of a veggie
Sat.- coconut shrimp, rice, frozen veggies/ leftovers
Sun.- steak, sweet potato fries, salad
What are you eating this week?
I love kids eat free at Ikea, we do that too! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your lack of food waste!
Thanks! We rarely do it because IKEA is a bit of a drive for us but we wanted to buy new chairs for kids' room anyway and a couple more things.Win-win :)
DeleteHad to go back and find your zucchini pasta recipe. It looks delicious! What do you use in your fritatta?
ReplyDeleteSorry about that :) I changed to a link now. I usually put whatever we have in our fritatta. This week we will probbaly have some leftover potatoes that I will add to it, peppers from our garden, possibly tomatoes (again, from our garden). Really, it's very versatile :)
DeleteI like that you share your menus. I am not very good at planning meals. (In fact I just finished my lunch and its 4 pm!!)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't very good before but since I started I save so much more money on food every month! And menu planning helps me to use up what I have in a fridge and keep food waste low.
DeleteBBQ'd pork tenderloin, new potatoes & cauliflower tonight; not sure what the rest of the week is bringing since I am busy running the dang roads again :( .... could you email or post your method/recipe for the zucchini pasta please Lena? xxx Thanks !
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy!! I changed it in the original post to a link :)In case it doesn't work here it is again :http://frugalandthankful.blogspot.com/2012/01/zucchini-pasta.html. And I can e-mail it to you too :)
DeleteYummmmm it all sounds so good, tried a new recipe tonight for lemon chicken pasta with zucchini and cherry tomatoes, needed to find more ways to use up the garden bounty besides canning!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are older now, but there used to be a lot of places that they could eat free. This was usually on Monday and Tuesday nights which are slow nights for restaurants.
ReplyDeleteA good food waste week for you! The menu sounds good too!
