The best way to wrap up the year?!! To see a rainbow on the 31st of December!!
How did this happen that it's the New Year here??? This past year had it's ups and downs, happy moments and moments of grieving for us. And it flew by! I really don't know where it went! Now I just hope that spring will be here just as quick...
In my country today is the biggest holiday of the year. My Mom and Dad were actually decorating the tree this morning :) I think it's the first year I don't feel like sharing their excitement. I'm happy it's the new beginning but I'm ready to pack all the decorations (tomorrow!) and move on :)
Another thing is I'm ready to get all of the sugar out of the house!! We've been eating cookies, desserts and chocolates non-stop for the past two weeks. And even though I tried to limit myself personally, I still ate too much. And kids...don't get me started... I'm ready to "de-sugarize" our lives :) I started by throwing away some cookies. I baked more cookies for gifts than we needed, and tons of them ended up breaking in pieces but Kid would not let me throw them away. Well, today I did it anyway...He will not be happy tomorrow...
Oh well... And this week we are eating:
Mon.- ham, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli
Tues.- leftovers, breakfast burritos
Wed.- stuffed shells
Thurs.- ham-and-rice casserole, salad
Fr.- sandwiches
Sat.- leftovers
Sun.- cheese broccoli soup
Do you celebrate the New Year? Do you still have your Christmas decorations up?
Hi Lena
ReplyDeleteWe still have our decorations up. They will may stay up until the week end a the twelveth day of Christmas is not up until Sunday. However I do feel a bit fed up with it now and we haven't had it up that long (nearly 2 weeks).
To celebrate new year, we watch films and DVDs and stay up late to let the new year in and this year for NYD we are haveing an all day buffet to use up the last of the Christmas goodies.
Happy New Year to you and your family.
Carolx
Thank you! we had our tree up for a month, and it was time for it to go, for sure:)
DeleteWe have been eating way to much junk ourselves. DH has the last of the cookies packed up to take to work tomorrow and we are back to normal meals. It's amazing how the holidays just draw you into junk food and heavy foods
ReplyDeleteI know! But your meals always sound delicious :)
DeleteI want to be you when I grow up :)
DeleteI started early this year, and we are almost finished taking the Christmas decorations down. Looks like a good menu for the week. I hope we can back on track with our eating this week, also.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel nice to be back to normal?:) I promise, I'm not Grinch :)
DeleteHappy New Year Lena & Family ! This Year was the first Year I had stayed up. I am making a Turkey Dinner for us today but for later as the Crabby Cabbie didn't come home until 6 am.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Turkey dinner sounds delicious!
DeleteJust dreaming up my menues for the week and you reminded me I have cooked ham in the freezer. There supper tonight is thought up. Thank-you. Getting rid of sugar would be really nice, but since I'm not a diabetic I am going to keep that enjoyment in my life! Chocolate is another story.
ReplyDeleteI'll allow myself a bit of chocolate here and there but I'm really done with cookies :)
DeleteI put away the Christmas decorations this week when I did a good cleaning after all the houseguests here for the Christmas weekend
ReplyDeleteWe ate blackeyed peas and sauted cabbage today- a Southern tradition that eating peas will bring good luck and eating cabbage will bring money your way. I don't believe the superstition but we enjoy the meal every year just because we like it.
Yum, sounds delicious! I eat lots of cabbage, and always look for new recipes to try. Didn't know it can bring money too...wink wink:)
DeleteHappy new year to you lady!!!
ReplyDeleteWe did our menu plan and and shopping.
The decorations came down last night and we packed up the tree as we listened to pots banging and fireworks. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too Amy!
