Twenty ways in 20 days, Day 14. Work...

After a long work day, I was sitting here all exhausted and thinking about what happy moment I can possibly write about. I had to work double today because yesterday my MIL was coming for dinner, and I don't know about you but in our house a visit from Hubby's Mom means removing an extra layer off of every surface in the house through unplanned hours of deep cleaning...

And no, she never did and never will say anything. She's a great Mom, honestly, one of the best MIL's anyone can only hope for (one more reason to love my Hubby even more...). But maybe, because she's always so amazingly nice, I want to put extra effort in to making our house VERY clean before she comes. I imagine if she was the hateful type, I probably wouldn't care about cleaning at all...

I digress...

So sitting here today I was thinking about how tired my eyes were from staring at the computer screen all day, and then it occurred to me how lucky I am that I have this part-time job. Yes, it pays very little, less than $500 a month. But then how many stay-at-home Moms love what they do and also get paid for it? Plus, I have time to make lunches and dinners, wipe noses and other unmentionable parts of kids' (well, only one kid now...Phew!) bodies, take a break to play UNO or Wii and for many-many other things that I'm so grateful for.

So today what makes me happy is work and working hard. Because now I have a whole different appreciation for being able to contribute to our budget and still enjoy it!

And what made you happy today?

I hope, you all had a great day :)

    1. No Lynn, I don't mind at all :) I translate different articles from English into Russian for a small non-profit company. It's a perfect job for me :)

  5. I have a wonderful MIL too. It is such a wonderful gift. Don't worry about the house, I'm sure that she doesn't care if there is some dirt! She just wants to see all of you. Have a wonderful visit!

  6. I agree, Lena! While I don't have a set income, my making money from home with my sewing and odd photography gig is such an amazing blessing!! I can sew on my own time, around my schedule, doing something I LOVE to do that helps our overall income! I am blessed!! :)

  8. It makes me happy to know that I'm not the only one who breaks out the deep cleaning when the MIL is set to come over. :) :) :)
