Yesterday I posted about different ideas on how to cut back this Christmas season. One of the best ways is to make your own, homemade, handmade gifts. I've heard many times when people said that they weren't very creative but, honestly, you don't have to be Martha Stewart to make something that will please your friends and loved ones.
To help you a little bit this season, one lucky reader of this blog will win a wonderful book "Gifts from the Kitchen":
The giveaway runs until Oct. 22nd, 12 am and is open for everyone worldwide. Just use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter:

ReplyDeleteI try to make as many personalised gifts as I can. I think it very special when someone takes the time to prepare a gift especially for you. I also like the fact that you can make things much more beautiful than the stores for a fraction of the cost and you an often support small retailers rather than the multinationals when buying the bits and pieces to construct your gifts.
ReplyDeleteThe best one has been a box full of rice, pasta, tomatosauce, spice etc. There was also a little notebook with recipes and stories where they come from. That was when I moved away from my parents :)

I LOVE gifts that are homemade and given from the heart. I have received several homemade gifts and I guess my favorites are from my kids who are all grown up now. I have an ornament that we hang every year that my oldest daughter made in Kindergarten. It is a little plane made out of candy and a stick of gum for the wings. It is very fragile, but I still can't let it go...

ReplyDeleteThe best homemade gift I've received is afghans from my grandmother and now my great aunt. My grandmother has sadly since passed, but I feel her arms around me every time I use any of the afghans she made for me. The afghan my great aunt made for me recently I use on a near daily basis, especially in the cooler months. They are handmade wraps of love. (jenimadison (at) centurytel (dot) c o m)

Vanilla and coffee cookies dipped in some mint chocolate. The most unique gift I have given would be the toy outhouse I made my husband for valentines day, it's a 2 seat outhouse with mini roll of toilet paper and graffiti on it with special jokes between us. He loves it! We plan on making a few more to give as gifts as well.
