I've been seriously drooling over...

some gorgeous nurseries the past few weeks. As I mentioned before, our nursery is not a big room. In fact, it measures about 9'X11' with a closet. If you don't count the closet, than it's a 9'X9' box, but I still want it to be light, bright and, most importantly, comfy. I really like modern styles like this:

or this (I couldn't find the original source, unfortunately):

I love almost everything about this room (maybe, minus the rug). I did notice that I tend to gravitate towards all boy rooms :) Funny, when I found out that my firstborn was going to be a boy, I was terrified! I had no idea what I'm going to do with a boy because I grew up in a family of girls (all two of us... but I did help a ton when my sister was a baby. After all, I'm 7 years older than her). Now having a girl makes me abnormally anxious :)

I picked up a few things for the nursery (I will share more with you when there is something to share :) but, again, none of it is pink :) I'm debating if I should just have little bits and pieces of pink as well as other colors in the room. I really like this idea:

I don't have that much space but, I think, this nursery is so fun. I really like the rooms that can grow with the children. I'm not a great fan of themed rooms. I like simple colors (and stripes!!). I would add a bit more of a rainbow but I really like this room:

Drool... I really like this one too:

So which one is your favorite? :) I can't wait to design our own (and for much less than most of these would cost new parents...). Stay tuned!

  1. A combination of #1 and #3. I like the colors. However, I had to have pink for my girls. My daughter had a son first and then found she was having a girl. She told her husband to be prepared for lots of pink and lavender. Your room is not large but should be large enough to what you want.

    1. I'm not much of a pink girl myself but I definitely need at least some pink accents :)

  2. I too am a fan of something more... lasting and that can grow up with the children. Back home, we didn't have any nurseries. All of our rooms were white (though me and my sister planned for about 10 years to paint our room violet). I like the second to last (stripes). May I suggest you look into wall decals? I was obsessed with them for a while, and they can really prop up a room very prettily, and are easily removable/changed when the time comes.

    1. I actually had some wall decals with our second (not much of a decor beyond that). This time I'm kind of in love with stripes. I was thinking about, maybe, alphabet decals but haven't found anything I (or my pocket) likes yet...

  3. I see a common theme in these rooms--bright with a lot of light (good windows). If you are able to achieve that, I think you will be happy with whatever you come up with. :)

    1. Yes, I really like how bright these rooms are! I will still get some blackout curtains for early mornings though. Learned that lesson the hard way, lol :)

  4. When I had my girls (a year and a half apart) we had no money. So I never had the luxury of planning a nursery. I used handmedown cribs (needed two since first kid was only 18 months) and my mother gifted me a dresser. Never hung pictures, or painted the white walls, had the benefit of tons of handmedown clothes (many of which were for boys since my sister had 2 boys) but we didn't care. We were just trying to keep afloat.

I envey you this luxury. Relish in it.

    1. I'm kind of excited myself :) Our first boy slept in the middle of the living room in our first tiniest apartment (he slept in a bassinet with us for the first 4 months but than the crib just wouldn't fit in our room). Other than that crib, everything was a hand me down.... I will get plenty of clothes from my sister, and I have a ton from my boys. So I'm set in that department, and that allows us to free some money for extras. I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars on our nursery but it's nice to be able to do it finally. Growing up, I've never really had my own space (lived all of my childhood in one-bedroom apartment), s it's kind of special for us that we can give it to our children even on a budget.

  6. Ikea! Ikea Ikea Ikea! You'll get all that plain white stuff in their cheapest (best value!) range - which makes sense as you won't be using it after 2 etc.

    1. Oh, Amy, I wish... Unfortunately, they don't have mini-cribs there. We actually went to IKEA last week and spend hours measuring everything... But I did find exactly what I wanted on Walmart website and now anxiously awaiting for our new cribs for the little ones :) And the dresser that I got from Goodwill for $5 is way better quality than anything we saw in IKEA, lol :) But we will be getting a few little knick knacks from IKEA too (and I got a fabric for crib skirts there too that is just perfect!!)

  7. Do you know the gender of your twins? If this has already been posted I apologize. I read so many blogs every day that I can't remember if you told us or not...

  8. I guess what I should have asked is if both the babies are girls or if you are having one of each.

  9. They are all beautiful! I like all of them except the one with the used car sales streamers. I think those would get old.

I did minimal decorating for the nurseries with both my kids. I completely decorated when my daughter was three/almost 4 into a little girls room that she would keep for about 10 years. I just have trouble decorating for only a couple years but I'm not very good about getting good deals like you are. I do really like orange though. It can be girly without being over the top.

    3. Oh, you absolutely didn't! Don't even worry about it! I was just thinking that it would be a good way to bring some pink in the room :) And hey, we all have different preferences. I'm not offended at all!
