When life gets in the way...

...of blogging :) I know, I missed my regular food waste and a menu post but, honestly, I didn't even have a chance to get to any of it. In the past couple of days we've just been eating what we had in stock. And with 100 degrees outside, cooking is just not a priority anymore...

Instead I've been going through piles and piles of stuff. I put away things, went through other things, got a few more bags ready for donation and finally made a list of things we want to sell in the next two weeks. I would love to make at least $200 to put towards some babies' expenses. Preferably, towards the new rocker/recliner. We will be getting rid of our old one because...well, it's pretty old. In fact, Hubby's ex Stepmom used it for all four of her kids. And the oldest is now 22... You literally touch it, and it brings up a cloud of dust. I think, whatever it is filled with inside, the filling has just started to dissipate.

We are not in a hurry to buy a new one yet but after shopping around we realized that it will be hard to find a used one that is in decent condition, comfortable enough to rock two bundles of joy at a time and not from a smoker's house. I will keep looking but I want to have some money tucked away just in case. With twins, they tell you to be prepared much earlier than with any singleton pregnancy due to risk of bed rest or just because walking will soon become a chore...

So that's where I've been :)

How have you been?? How was your weekend?

  1. I hope you find a good rocker soon. And indeed, with this extremely hot weather, and then downpour (hello, humidity!), standing in the kitchen is about as attractive an option as going for tooth extractions. Hope all is well with you and the babes. Did I miss an announcement of your estimated due date?

    1. :) It's 12/13/14 but I will, probably, deliver some time in November (keeping fingers crossed that I will make it that far).

  2. I haven't felt much like cooking either...and I don't have an excuse! Glad you are doing well. I agree, you should get things done early just.in.case. I can't even imagine having two infants at a time, but how awesome is that?

  4. Sounds like you've been pretty productive outside of the kitchen if not in it. Although, your "no cooking" may be more than my regular cooking. :)

  5. Hi Lena~ We have had unseasonably cool weather here but I have to say I don't miss nor like the 90's or higher temps either:) Good luck on rocker shopping, I think my daughter bought hers at Ikea, it's nice but for me it was a bit small. I have never been a huge fan of Target either, mainly due to the fact I also live far away from one, but next time I pass one, I'll have to stop in...give it another chance so to speak:) My daughter absolutely swears by Target:) Lynn

    1. I looked at what IKEA has but I think I need something softer than what they have. I want arm soft arm rests :) That's why I'm not a great fan of gliders even though they are cheaper. But I will spend many years in this chair, so it needs to be comfy :)

  6. Lena, believe it or not sometimes LazyBoy has clearance sales that rival the prices of even used furniture. We have found 2 rockers there that were cheaper than anything else we could find. ( OK I admit we were not looking to "match" any existing furniture. In fact one of them is an odd color, but it is in an obscure place and a crochet afghan hides a multitude of odd) They are so comfortable and perfect baby rocking chairs 'cause Mom is really comfortable also.
