This week wasn't a no waste week for us but it wasn't too bad either.
I got a little bit of salsa left that separated for some reason, and just didn't look right. And I also found a yucky potato in my potato basket. It was a 99c/10lbs bag of potatoes. So 1 potato would be , what, 5 cents?? And salsa, maybe, 25c? So total wasted this week-30c. I doubt our next week would be as good though. We have TONS and TONS and TONS of leftovers!!We'll see if we can eat all of it until it goes bad, especially with my parents shopping every other day !! I definitely should be fine with staying within my food budget because, apparently, my parents think we are starving here!! And especially lacking sweets! I doubt I can keep up with my weight loss while they are here...
Total spent this month: $41.65
Total saved: $34.85
Left to spend this month: $238.35
YTD spending: $275.21
YTD savings: $196.06
YTD coupons used : 39
YTD waste: $26.63
Enjoy it while they are here! My kids love it when G'ma and G'pa come to visit because we go out for shakes and Great Harvest bread more often. And G'ma is willing to spend more money on things that I don't feel are worth it. It only happens once a year, if that, so live it up!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the food, y'all hardly wasted anything.
ReplyDeleteI read your old posts about your parents, I am so happy for you that they are here! What a joy. Cherish the moments you are with them.
Thank you!
Deleteyou are doing great!
ReplyDeleteHA, sounds like hubby and I when we get in a grocery store with our kids. It's fun to give them extra's that they wouldn't otherwise buy for themselves. How fun to have your folks with you enjoy every single minite you get!!! Great savings on your groceries BTW
ReplyDeleteyou are doing great! I made pasta last night with all the wkend leftovers..not one wasted morsel of food!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!! We have pasta tonight with with leftovers too.
DeleteThank you, everyone. I really enjoy my time with my parents and especially watching them play with my kids and my long talks with Mom.
ReplyDeleteGood job this week with minimizing food waste. What kind of treats are your parents buying?
ReplyDeleteSo far they bought red velvet cake, two kinds of brownies, heart-shaped donuts, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin pie and macaroons. And that on top of all the candies, chocolate and cookies that they brought with them from Russia. They really think that we are sugar-deprived here. I'm surprised, I managed to keep my weight where it was so far.
