This morning I checked something really quick and then turned off the computer. Instead, I cleaned all the bathrooms, scrubbed the tubs, cleaned the kitchen, dusted, vacuumed, got all the rugs in the washer. I'm still looking for this balance between blogging and life. I feel like I'm behind on everything. Ever since I started posting again about 1.5 month ago, I met so many wonderful people. I love to know about your life and how you manage your finances. I admire your strength and perseverance in working towards being debt-free or other financial goals. I enjoy reading about your frugal crafts, recipes and shopping trips.
The problem is that I feel like I don't do anything else any more. I'm constantly here on Blogger. How do you manage your day? How do you find time for everything that needs to be done? And how much time do you usually spend blogging? I'm still new to all of these, and I'll really appreciate your help.
On the other note, I hit jackpot in thrift stores yesterday! So far this winter my older kid managed to get wholes on the knees of three pairs of jeans!! I don't know what he's doing, crawling?? I was thinking of putting those fancy, cute patches at first but then I realized that he grew quite a bit in the last few months, so all his pants were getting too short anyway. So I decided to cut and hem them to turn into shorts for summer. And I started looking for new pants for him. I didn't want to buy brand-new jeans because I know, in summer he'll live in shorts anyway. I just needed something for the next couple of months. So on Wednesday I went to the dentist and stopped by Kid to Kid and DI in that area. Here's what I got:
DI- I picked up 1 pair of nice-looking jeans for $3. I was surprised that they actually sell some jeans with wholes on knees for $4!!! So it was a good find.
Kid to Kid-
1 striped shirt, size 6- clearanced to $1
1 striped shirt, size 8-clearanced to $1 (for when he's a little older)
1 pair black pants, size 6- clearanced to $1
1 navy polo shirt, size 6, brand new with tags- clearanced to $1
1 brand-new pair of navy Wrangler jeans- $5.99
1 red and black striped sweater( apparently, I like stripes :)- clearanced to $1
Total spent with tax: $14.47 which makes each item about $2 per piece. The jeans that I got are a little more expensive but they are new and a very nice quality. Now I just need to look into those patches that go inside on the knee to keep them to last longer!!
I think I might go to our local Kid to Kid tonight too to check them out. This other one had a winter clearance going( which for some reason include t-shirts and tank tops...), I wonder if ours has the same thing too.
Everyone, have a wonderful day and a great weekend!
Lena, thanks for asking about my blog. I've just added a link so you can follow it by email. By the way, I read your blog and you don't seem to have any problems with English.
ReplyDeleteOn another topic. It's easy to sucked up by the computer no matter what you're doing, isn't it? I think I do spend a lot of time blogging sometimes, but for me I'm just replacing my other leisure activities such as watching TV or playing a game. Also, there is some value in the time you spend blogging because it focuses your activities if you are going to blog about them and spurs you to do somethings. With that being said, I use a timer a lot for time management whether it is to get something done or to limit myself with something extra like blogging.
Aww..thank you! I still have plenty to learn when it comes to English but thanks for a compliment. And timer is a great idea! I time myself with chores occasionally too.Maybe, I should limit myself to like an hour or two a day...I don't know yet!
DeleteLena, do not let the blogging control you; it should be for your enjoyment, like keeping a journal or having a hobby. I was blogging every morning, with people starting to expect it every day, whereas I started feeling pressure to get it done at same time everyday. Once I was sick for a month, I had missed days, blogged at all different times of the day, and starting doing it for me again. Remember why you started blogging and stay true to yourself. This is only my opinion for what I found for myself. If you have something else to do for yourself you do it, like I saids, "stay true to one's own self", not to loose yourself in others.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing, I do enjoy it. A lot. But I just started feeling that it consumes me. I think I'm going to start prioritizing what's more important in my daily schedule. Thanks for advice!
DeleteGreat buys, Lena!! Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for spending time online, I've cut back but still spend too much time online... I'll be posting more on this tomorrow as I need to get a daily schedule going!
Can't wait for your post tomorrow!
DeleteI know exactly what you mean. I feel like I spend all of my time on blogs. Not sure of a solution yet, so let me know if you figure it out :)
ReplyDeleteAnd if you think of a solution, please, do share :)
DeleteA few blogging tips . . . cut down on the blogs that you check. I used to check some other cooking blogs, but found that it wasn't really a good use of my time - so I deleted them. (I wasn't really getting much from their recipes). I only post on my blog once or twice a week. Schedule your days and routinely only post at those times. Then you only have so much time to do it and it's not on your mind all the time. There is a lot of good info and great blogs out there - but I find that most of the time I am just wasting time. So get a few favorites and ignore all the rest! Good luck - it's always a struggle.
ReplyDeleteBlogging is part of my daily routine. Most days I'm home from work around 3pm & Michael doesn't get home til around 6pm so that gives me 3 hours to myself. I get all my blog reading/commenting and posting done in that time along with a few other tasks (I always keep a "to-do list" of tasks that need doing around the house so that I feel I'm being productive. So if I get all my blogging done plus scratch a couple of tasks off my list I feel it's time well spent. It helps that my daughter is 21 and looks after herself!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's easier for me to find time at this stage of my life because my kids are pretty much grown and independent and I am home a lot anyway, so that is my hobby time. I think it's easy to get sucked into computer time, even if it's not blogging. For my dh it's message boards and facebook, for my son it's online games, for my daughter it's facebook and pinterest...I spend a lot of time reading other's blogs because I enjoy it so much.
ReplyDeleteJust like you and many others I struggle severely with balancing my time blogging.
ReplyDeleteI too will try tackling this in a post as well.
With my work schedule and everything now I found I was getting on the computer at like 6 and before I knew it it was 1130. So now I am going on about 10:30 since I know I have to go to bed by 11:15
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding a balance. I dont have a face book and have never been on pinterest so I guess that helps
