We got it!

Pin It    I really apologize for  lack of posting lately. But I just didn't want to bore you with what's happening here. Because nothing is really happening. I doubt you'll be interested in listening to me mumbling about my cleaning schedule. I try to stay away from the stores right now, so no new shopping updates. Well, actually there is one. Here it is:

Yes, we got it!! We ended up paying around $280 (tax included), so full price. But it's worth every penny! It' a 14' trampoline, and my kids have a blast on it. And because of the inclosure, I don't have to keep an eye on them every second. And I'm especially happy that we saved for it and payed cash instead of using our credit card. Which brings me to another topic. My older kid will have the last month of pre-K in May but the tuition is already payed for. Hubby and I talked it over and decided to start saving for a new camera. The one we have now is a 5-year old very primitive shoot and point Kodak that eats batteries within hours if you don't get them out as soon as you make a picture. This is very annoying! We are not exactly ready to go with a DSLR one just yet because we are both pretty pathetic photographers but we definitely need something of higher quality. One of the options we are considering is Nikon D5100 but we haven't really shopped around yet. Do you, guys, have any good suggestions? All ideas are appreciated. And on the money note, we decided to take that $55 that we paid for a tuition before and start putting it towards the camera fund. Also whatever money we have left in our grocery or eating-out budget, will also go towards the camera.

Oh, and the last thing that I wanted to share with you is that a canning season is officially opened in our house! I got my hands on some cheap strawberries last week:

Nobody but me really likes strawberry jam here, so I decided to try something different. I stumbled upon this recipe for The Chocolate Strawberry Sauce . So I decided to try it, and let me tell you-it is SO GOOD! It is very rich. The recipe asks for way too much sugar. I actually added 1 cup less, and I still think I could cut at least one more. I also used just 1 bag of pectin. But it's so naughty and yummy! Especially with vanilla ice-cream. My Kid kept coming back to lick a plate...And guess, what some of my friends will get for Christmas (if I don't eat it all before...):

Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone!!

  3. LOTS of positive news! You are being very productive, canning already, making yummy sauce. Sounds delicious! I need to get a new camera too, mine has had it - the shutter doesn't open automatically anymore, I have to use a finger to pry it open!! Not sure what kind I'll get yet.

  5. Good for you. You really worked hard to save for this and you are teaching your kids to be responsible at the same time. That sauce looks heavenly.

  6. As for cameras, mine got dropped into some water a few months ago and I had to get a new one. Camera shopping is very confusing with so many options and configurations. I will say that Costco has very good prices. Also, I was looking a mid-range Fuji point and shoot and two of them I brought home had lens covers that didn't open all of the way. And then I noticed the one in the store had the same problem. I'm not saying that Fuji is a bad brand, but be sure to try them out in the store.

I got a Sony (don't remember the model) and it takes very good pictures. However, the buttons are a little awkward. However, I am pleased with it.

  7. Congratulations on the trampoline. That's pretty awesome that you saved for it and got it in the end. Looking at yours makes me want one. I especially love that it is enclosed as well.
