Monthly goal update #1

Pin It   First, I want to apologize for lack of reading and commenting on your lovely blogs in the last few days. The thing is I was on the road...

We went for our long planned vacation to Bear Lake. I'll post more about it tomorrow (after I sort through a couple hundreds of pictures :) but let me tell you- it was amazing!! I already miss the beauty of it.

But we couldn't stay exactly within our planned budget...surprise,surprise...We allowed ourselves to indulge into local raspberries and raspberry shakes...Plus had to buy more gas than we thought. I still need to calculate all the damage but we spent about $60 extra. But no regrets whatsoever!! It was all worth it!

Back to my goals for August:

1. Declutter. I really didn't do much about it. I started working on my coupon box but it's still work in progress. But mainly I was getting ready for our vacation, so I didn't do much.

2. Lose weight. Weight before- 154.4 lbs, weight this morning- $152.6 lbs, goal this month-150.4 lbs. I'm actually pretty pleased with this number!! I did go for a 2-4 mile walks 3 times last week and did some sit-ups and push-ups. In the last 3 days I didn't exercise per se but I spent 2.5 out of 3 days in a swim suit, and I think swimming is a great exercise. I did allow myself to indulge in some local shakes on a vacation but overall I'm right on track to lose 4 pounds this month.

3. Stay within a budget in all areas. Well, I already failed to stay within a budget in ALL areas because of our vacation but we are still doing great in other categories. I will have to go grocery shopping tonight because our fridge is BARE!! I also doubt we will stay within a budget in a gift department in August. I have a close friend in Ukraine who will have a baby girl in the next couple of weeks, so last week I sent her a little package with some goodies. But the shipping was $54.30...Ouch, double ouch...But I should have leftovers in other areas of our budget, so it's all good.

Now I better go get back to some de-cluttering and reading your blogs. My last two posts I actually scheduled and I posted your comments from Hubby's phone but I'm yet to master commenting on the phone...

And how are you doing with your goals?

  7. Glad you were able to get away on your vacation!! You will have the exrta $$ you spent made up in no time, sometimes you just gotta kick up your heels!!! Crazy price for shipping, when I send something to Canada I can't belevie what it costs

  8. I totally feel your pain with postage costs abroad. We try not to send packages to Britain anymore, as it costs as much as what the present cost a lot of the times. At Christmas I give Amazon UK gift cards now or a gift card from one of the stores over there, as it doesn't generally involve shipping costs.

Can't wait to see your photos,

    Gill

  9. I think that's it's admirable that you have goals and such a good knowledge of where you spend your money and how much. That's the way that you will meet your goals. However, do you every get tired of tracking everything or you just one who likes to see the order of everything?

Working hard to stick to my goals for August .... so far so good but I know that I have college expenses and other household related expenses coming up but I'm trying! Keep going, you're doing well.
