I don't know how to sew. I really really don't. I mean, I can sew a straight line but when it comes to a premeditated curved line, you are looking at the wrong person. But I'm slowly trying to learn, I promise...
I've seen so many people around the web decorating for the fall season that I think I got this bug too. I went to Hancock Fabrics to get some fabric for new pillows (yes, I can sew pillows....Straight lines, right :) I actually went to find some burlap (I got this bug too!) but they were sold out of the good stuff. But as I was wandering around, I found some really pretty leftover linen-looking fabric for $5/ yard. It's so awesome that I got 2 yards for multiple little projects around the house. And then I noticed this really cute fall fabric that I just couldn't pass by:
So I decided to make a very simple table runner for my level of sewing (nothing like your amazing table runners, Carla :). I just cut one "linen" stripe and two "pumpkin" ones and sew it all together. But it looked too plain, so I added some "applications" from cut-up fabric:
And another picture:
I just used some Elmer's fabric spray adhesive to attach them:
Aren't these pumpkins pretty?
Another look:
I don't have any other fall decor on the table, so some flowers from last summer will work for now. Or the first and only cantaloupe from our garden:
Have you started decorating for fall yet?
I will share this post with these fun parties:

Your table runner is looking good and so does that melon.
ReplyDeleteWhere we live, North West England, the climate is not good for growing melons.
Carolx
Well, here we are supposed to have a great climate for melons but I only got 1 this year :(
DeleteWhat a nice table runner, love those cute pumpkins. A cantelope! that is amazing and awesome. I wonder if I could grow those here? ummm Enjoy the day at hand Lena. xx
ReplyDeleteI think you could. I've learned one thing that it likes to grow up the fence. I have two more hanging there but they are small. I don't think they can ripen but I will pick them up tomorrow and we'll see.
DeleteI love your runner!! Simple and elegant. I haven't started doing any decorating yet, just making lots of stuff that I may not even get to keep if my DD's want it. HA Maybe this weekend I will drag it all out, it is such a pain to dust once everything is decorated, I'm getting lazy
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on very little decor this year. Just a couple of things here and there!
DeleteThe table runner is just awesome. It is showing the simplicity as well as the purity of this fabric.I am a linen lover too.According to me this is the best fabric in this world.I always buy Linen Fabrics from Linen Club - one of the best linen manufacturers in India. You can embellish your wardrobe with Linen Fabrics just like your table....:)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love linen but most of the time I just can't afford it. That's why I was so excited to find this fabric! I have so many plans for it!
DeleteI am like you; I can sew a straight line and that is it! Very cute table runner! I would love to make something like that, but for now with 3 kids 5 and under it is safer for me to not have anything on the table except for the basket of napkins. Maybe when the kids are older.... :)
ReplyDeleteI rarely have anything on the table other than a stack of rags for wiping too:) But my parents are coming in October, so I wanted something nicer :)
DeleteYour runner is adorable!
ReplyDeleteSo creative and very festive! Great job.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Ihave nothing up.
ReplyDeleteI love it! So simple and perfect! I really need to get my stuff out!
ReplyDeleteI have something hanging on my front door. That's it. I will put up a couple of more things as we get closer to Halloween. Nice job on your table runner.
