It was one of those days...And food and waste too...

Pin It    Last night when I went to bed, I was fully intended to wake up and do every single thing on my list. I was so full of energy and ready to conquer the world...Well, it didn't last long :(

First, I had a terrible night full of dreams and woke up feeling like I was run over by a truck. I scrambled off the bed and went to do the laundry. Monday is my usual big laundry day. Well, when I got my first load out of the dryer, I saw this:

All of my white sheets were COVERED with random brown dots!! I have no idea where they came from!!  There was nothing colored in this load. The only thing I could think of was a bunch of new colorful undies for the kids but the damage was so bad, it looked like somebody just spilled a bottle of paint in my dryer! I tried another load with bleach this time and it did nothing. Absolutely nothing :(Ugh...it ruined all my sheets and some underwear :(

Then I went to pick up  theKid from school and found out that he lost his brand-new jacket. We got it only a week ago.We looked everywhere we could and didn't find it. I really hope some kid put it on on accident and will return it tomorrow :(

And then we had to go to the doctor with the Toddler because he's...uhmmm...constipated. Severely. He refuses to eat 70% of food we feed him and especially vegetables. But it got so bad that the doc prescribed us Miralax today :( Ugh, I'm really ready for this long Monday to be over. It's really frustrating and expensive too!

On a food budget topic, we got a few pieces of moldy bread:

Too bad...That's a delicious rye bread that I like a lot. I also threw away a gross moldy cucumber that got lost in the back of the fridge.

And this week we are eating:

Mon.- Leftovers from Sunday dinner (pork chops, scalloped potatoes, salad)
Tues.- zucchini curry soup (will post a recipe tomorrow)
Wed.- salmon, rice, steamed green beans
Thurs.- pasta with sauce, salad
Fr.- dinner with Mom (crock pot chicken
Sat.- pizza, soup
Sun.- leftovers, sandwiches

How was your Monday?

  3. Hope today goes better for you!!!! The laundry looks like a crayon might have gotten into the drye. I had a load turn out like that many moons ago. Did you have kids name in his coat, if so maybe it will turn up, our kids hated that I put their name on everything when they were in school, but we couldn't afford to buy things once let lone twice!!

    1. You know what, I think you are right! There was a crayon wrapper on the floor! I guess, I've missed it. And no, his coat didn't have a name on it :(

  4. When I have a day like this, I always think of "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" by Judith Viorst. If you haven't read it with your kids, you should get it from the library and read it. It's a great book.

  6. As a person that has suffered constipation my entire life I have a bit of info to share.

Read the book "IBS free at last". By Patsy Catsos, MS,RD,LD. This helped
    tons!

Until you get a chance to read that, try feeding
lots of white rice, limit fruit, veggies, dairy, and, wheat. The book will help you determine which foods are causing the problem. It will help you limit the "problem" foods to safe levels.

My "problem" foods are apples, grapes, and gluten. I love apples and usually ate two or more everyday of my life. Thus, severe constipation. I now avoid apples entirely as they are by far my worst offender. I know it
doesn't make sense. I use to think the apples were the thing to help. :(

  7. Oh, you poor thing. That is a terrible day.

Our oldest has very severe constipation as well, he'll go weeks inbetween sometimes. And we use Mirilax when it gets super bad. It isn't pretty but it works. No great insight here on my part, but you aren't alone. Good luck!

  8. Sounds like my Monday was much better than yours. It was a holiday - for Adam, at least, so we packed up the garage and got a lot done. And got to see my nephews play baseball.

  9. I am so sorry about your bad Monday and sure hope today was better. :)
those bad days can really get a person down and I hope it is all either fixable or temporary.

About the sheets, I am good at laundry but I can't tell what that is, it does look like splattered paint. i am a fan of Tide for spots on colored things and of liquid bleach for whites.
You might be able to find replacement sheets at a thrift store- sometimes I have found ones that were new or just like new.

  10. I believe these are rust spots from your washer or dryer. Something is leaking rust into the pan. Try something called Erustocator. It is sold in the laundry section in a rust colored bottle. It should make the spots disappear instantly if it is rust. Then soak immediately in cold water. This is a very poisonous powerful chemical solution so keep it well up and out of the reach of your little ones. But it works like a miracle. Even took the rust stains out of the carpet after the flood we had in the basement.
