Thank you everyone for stopping by yesterday and for your kind words. I'm feeling much better today. My back was hurting a bit this morning, so I was taking it slow most of the day. Honestly, I spent the majority of today on the couch :) But I wasn't lazy! We were doing a major de-cluttering, going through our papers. We are only about 2/3 done, and that's how much needs to be shredded already:
Yep, four bags...I'm a little ashamed to say but we even found a paper from 2000. But most of it was for the last 6-7 years (when I didn't do anything about paper clutter). We significantly downsized everything but tax documents and important papers. Plus (see, I'm getting defensive here...), one of these bags is Hubby's school stuff that he kept for a year. It's huge progress for us. I think at the end of cleaning I will have an empty file cabinet to put up for sale on classifieds. We'll see...
We also did a little bit of shopping today and our usual trip to the library with the kids. On the way there we were listening to kids' songs on a CD. Did you ever pay attention to some of the words in certain songs?? For example, this one:
raining, it's pouring
The old man is snoring
He went to bed and he bumped his head
And couldn't get up in the morning
Is it just me, or is it not exactly appropriate for little kids? Or this famous lullaby:
Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come baby, cradle and all...
This just sounds plain morbid, especially for a nursery song, to me! Did you ever think about the meaning of some of the songs you might have sang to your little ones (and I'll be the first to admit that I sang these particular nursery rhymes to my boys...)?
