Food waste...What food waste? And a menu for this week.

Yes, I don't have any food waste this week. Why? Well, not because I was so good and used up all the leftovers or fresh produce before it goes bad. No, that's not the case. I don't have any food waste because I don't know what I have in our fridge. And that's because it's way too full. First, we had a nice little get together with friends on Saturday with plenty of leftovers to provide us with a few lunches this week. But, mostly, it's because my lovely friends "robbed" Costco before they came over here. Here is the proof (add to it a 15lbs bag of potatoes that is not pictured):

Thank you so much, Julia, Tommy, Richard and Anya!! :) I love you, guys. Julia (my best friend) also stopped by the Russian store and got me some goodies from there too (including Russian pickles!!). So now our fridge and pantry are so full that we need to eat some stuff before I can tell you if we have any waste hiding in there :)

And this is what we are eating this week (as usual, I only list our planned dinners. Breakfasts usually consist of cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, bread with jam or eggs. And for lunch we try to eat up leftovers or simple cheese-filled tortillas, soups or breakfast burritos):

Mon.- crab salad (bumped from last week)
Tues.- pork chops, corn on the cob, salad
Wed.- fish sticks, pasta, broccoli
Thurs.- breakfast for dinner
Fr.- tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches/fresh basil (from our garden)
Sat.- TBD (have a baby shower, not sure when we will come back, so will, probably, eat  pizza from the freezer or something)
Sun.- hot dogs, fried potatoes, salad

What are you eating this week?

  2. I love leftovers from having people over. We had a cookout this weekend and are still enjoying some of them.

  3. I need to get on with this cooking thing. I just feel extremely uninspired and it is SO hot to even think about eating hot or warm food. Too bad ice cream can't be dinner! I'm thinking I want to make a noodle-less lasagna in the future, with spinach instead. I have to check what's on sale this weekend.

Good job on your no-waste! I bought some tomatoes at the farmer's market (expensive...), and they turned to be a bust. So sad about that.

    1. Noodle-less lasagna sounds delicious. You need to share a recipe! And sorry about your toamtoes :( I haven't been to a farmer's market yet this year. But then I'll have my own tomatoes soon (hopefully :)

  6. I think food is always the best gift! (or cash to buy food)! It is something you have to have, and loosens up your budget for other things if that is provided for.

    1. Yes! It's nice to know that we have a lot of food in our fridge right now and can stay away from all the stores for a while.

  7. What sweet friends! Our neighbors have chickens, and they are always bringing eggs over for us, so we got free food this week too.
