Nutty bars.

Pin It                         I know a lot of you, probably, already started your Christmas baking. Well, I haven't started anything Christmas-y yet. We always decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving. But to be honest, with this cold I haven't been able to clean much so right now I'm trying to deep-clean this piggery.

But I did some baking this week. I have a friend who is sick right now, so I made a little treat for her. And I decided to share the recipe with you because it has one thing I always like when baking - it's SIMPLE. Say hello to Nutty bars (and no, these are not brownies :) :

015-4

You will need:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 egg
1/2 stick of butter
1 cup chopped pecans (I usually use cookie-size nuts, those really nicely chopped ones)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla

How-to:

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan. In a saucepan over low heat melt butter and 1 cup of chips. Once melted, stir in condensed milk, egg and vanilla. Mix well. Then stir in flour and baking powder until well blended. Add nuts and another cup of chips. Spoon the mixture into the greased pan.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool, cut and serve. Store at room temperature in a air-tight container. The bars will get a little more dense with time but they taste delicious even then.

And that's it! So easy!!But still oh-so good...

I shared this recipe with this fun parties:

    1. I don't know, they taste different :) Maybe, because of the tiny-sized nuts I use, they just taste really nutty. I made basic brownies before with nuts, and these taste better, I think.
