In the lane, snow is glistening...

Now imagine me singing this phrase with a deep voice of... I don't know, Bing Crosby? I sure love me some festivity of this song, just not at the beginning of April. But that's what came to my mind at this depressing view today:

OK, it's a pretty view. Just again, not at the beginning of April. I'm kind of done roasting my chestnuts for the season... I guess I jinxed us by sharing with you all the pictures of my tulips... Come on, you can stop gloating now :) I've learned my lesson... I'm trying really hard to convince myself that it's moisture we need for the grass, and gardens, and rivers or lakes... It almost works...

But on a day like this I just did not have any energy to be useful... In fact, I was pretty lazy (it doesn't help when you eat something that doesn't agree with your stomach the day before...). I spent most of today away from the computer but enjoying time at Church, sleeping and curled up on the couch with my soft blanket and some uplifting books instead.

What can I say, I'm really looking forward to spring... When it's nice and sunny outside, I'm so much more productive! I feel like the energy is just flowing in my body and I'm ready to conquer the world (of dirty laundry, that is...).

The only thing that helped me feel that spring is near was the gorgeous bouquet that I scored for just $5:

So worth it!!

What do you like to do when you need a day for yourself to relax and rejuvenate?

  1. We also had unexpected snow. That and rain kept me indoors most of the weekend. However, we are expecting better weather this week and that should put a spring in my step whether or not it makes me more productive. :)

  2. Haha, shhhh. Don't say anything about it being the "last winter storm"! We've been saying that since JANUARY and look where it took us (we had snow last Tuesday, 30 degree weather on Sat/Sun). We're just keeping our fingers crossed and waiting. Nothing like sunflowers to bring spring in! Hope you all thaw out soon enough!

  3. You make me smile, Lena! :)
Spring is coming! It's taking it's time, I admit, but it is coming! :)
When I need time to relax (I cannot imagine ever getting a whole day- I'd be thrilled with a full hour once in a while) I would like to take my time having a cup of tea, spend time praying, read a good book, wash my hair, go thrifting, sew something or I would just go ahead and do what every busy wife and mom dreams of doing (no, not jump on a plane to Hawaii, as awesome as that sounds) I would........(sigh!) take a nap! :)

    1. I know what you mean :) The only reason why I had more than ten minutes for myself (that did not involve hiding in a bathroom) was that boys went to a family Birthday party, and I wasn't feeling that good to go... Now back to my Mommy duties :)

  4. Oh man, the weather is crazy these days...I'm happy to report it's mild and sunny here today...but just for today. Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week. I'm ok with that, just don't want any more white stuff!! To relax I like to lose myself in a book...

  5. I'm so over this white junk too! I just want to plant flowers and tomatoes and be happy in the sunlight. I'm wondering if it is going to skip summer this year.

  6. Hi Lena! I know how you fell but I have yet to see my lawn, let alone any Tulips:) We had a beautiful day on Monday...52 degrees!! ...but today we are back in the 20's with more snow on the way. Yuck!! Doesn't help the dieting, at all:) Lynn @ Turnips 2 Tangerines
