In the past couple of weeks I got a lot of comments from anonymous. And no, I don't mean those spiteful trolls who try to scam you, make you look at somebody's commando rear view unexpectedly (Yeah, the sick kind...) or the ones who just try to kill your modest blog for no reason. Oh, I get hundreds of those every week. Hence, full comment moderation...
And I don't mean those people who hide behind the anonymous status because they want to mock, harass and bash you since they have nothing better to do with their lives...
No, I mean the lovely individuals who leave sweet, heartfelt comments but choose to stay anonymous for some reason. Yes, I'm talking to you :) Why am I talking to you? Well, because I would love you to come and say Hi! As much as I enjoy receiving your comments, I'd love to put a "face" (I mean "a name") on it to get to know my readers better. Come on, I don't want to invade your privacy. But let's be friends, can we? :) Please! Pretty please with a cherry on top?
But I'm grateful for all of your comments, my anonymous and identified friends. I've really been feeling encircled by your love recently and my heart swells with gratitude. It might take me a while to respond to all of your sweet remarks but I do read every single one of them, I promise!!
So do you allow anonymous comments on your blog?
Hello, It's me, an anonymous commenter! I have heard about those horrible commenters who troll around cyberspace being negative and rude. Life is too short to exert so much negative energy out into the world. It is sad.
ReplyDeleteFor now on when I comment I will sign off with my initials rather than just comment anonymously. I don't know if that makes much difference, but it's a start!
I love your blog and visit here almost daily!
DB :)
Hey, DB :)
DeleteI allow anonymous comments because I understand that some people feel better leaving as little of a trace as possible on a public forum. Also, I have had some people tell me that they have trouble leaving a comment and Anonymous is the only way that they can do it. Blogger is nothing if not finicky sometimes. I just think of anonymous comments as my shy friends.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel too! But some anons end up being trolls, that's why I have moderation on all the time.
DeleteSure, I show anonymous comments on my blog; when they are gushy and full of love! :) Glad you have so many folks who care for you, named and unnamed. You deserve it. Hope you are feeling well. Or at least mobile. Twins can't be easy to carry around at any stage of pregnancy. Happy thoughts!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, my friend :)
DeleteI don't anymore because I had too much spam. I don't regret not having them either.
ReplyDeleteOh, I get tons of spam too!
DeleteLena,
ReplyDeleteI have been a "silent luker" following your blog for a while now. And I am glad you have allowed anon comments for a short bit so some of us who can only post anonymously can say "HI!!!" and {{{HUGS}}}
To answer your question, I have tried to post with a "moniker" in the past on a few blogs, and somehow I ended up with a bad virus on my 'puter, and had a heck of a time getting rid of it!!!! So I am forced to only post anonymously on those bloggers who allow it. It's frustrating, but it's better and easier than having a virus take down my computer again!!!
So that is why I post in anon mode--- computer preservation!!!
Oh, well, that's definitely a good reason! But than you for being a reader :) I always allow anonymous comments but I moderate all of the comments on this blog because some stuff people send/write is just nasty!
DeleteYou know what? I actually am not 100% sure... haha. *goes check* Seems they were deactivated by default under WP. I have no problem with anonymous, but sometimes it does feel like the risks outweigh the rewards. Even a separate email/username would do for Google.
ReplyDeleteSee, I know nothing about WP :) I need to learn more because I'm considering switching too.
DeleteI've never figured out how to post any way other than as anonymous, and can't post at all on blogs that don't allow anonymous comments. That said, there's no reason not to put a name at the end of my comment, although I suspect I usually don't. Erica
ReplyDeleteHey, Erica! Nice to meet you :)
Delete:) :) :)
ReplyDeleteHello :)
DeleteI don't care if someone comments as anon. as long as they're not being evil/mean... otherwise, go to town. ;) lol!
ReplyDeleteHi Lena,
ReplyDeleteI always read & comment from time to time, but I always put my name on. The only reason I do anon is because I have no blogger or google account & on most blogs I can't figure out how to post any other way. :-)
Rhonda
Yes, I already feel like I know you, Rhonda :)
DeleteI usually use Anne in the kitchen, but it is way too complicated when I am on the iPad. Anonymous is the easiest option here,so it depends if I am on my computer or not.
