In the past couple of days the weather has been in triple digits here... So, so hot!!! But ever since I saw this pin on Pinterest, I knew I had to make this jam. I've been drooling over it for the past couple of weeks.
I knew I had a bag of cranberries that I bought last year in my freezer. I don't even remember why I got them. I think, I wanted to make cranberry sauce from scratch. I don't know...
But it seemed like the perfect recipe to use them up. So here I went...
And an hour later...
I made 14 4 oz. cans and a couple of half pints. I also have another half a pint for us to enjoy right now. And it is pretty enjoyable! Yum!! I used 1 less pound of sugar than the recipe asked for and, honestly, I think, I could even cut it down to 3-3.5 lbs. I also added 2 TB freshly squeezed lemon juice. Delish!
The smaller jars will become Christmas gifts for neighbors and friends. Yes, I have officially started working on my list :)
And call me crazy - since I already feel as if I just ran a marathon in this heat - but I want to can more :) You know I'm addicted to a pantry full of delicious preserved stuff...
Hmm, what's next? Maybe, some cherries?
Go You!!!! I love to can too. Your friends are going to so love those beautiful jars of love come Christmas time
ReplyDeleteHaha- You are crazy! Just Kidding!!! I think that is awesome! What a nice gift to give for Christmas! This jam sounds delicious! And High Five to you for already marking a bunch of gifts off your list- what a great start! :)

You might be kind of busy in December, so Christmas in July seems about right.
ReplyDeleteGood job!!!
ReplyDeleteA great idea to start early. I've also been thinking about Christmas recently and what to put on the lists so I can tick them off as I make them or buy them in sales.
